Academy Award winning Danny Boyle will direct the next Bond movie, it has been confirmed.
“We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting BOND 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor”, said Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions.
The rumour mill had been quietly confident about Boyle taking the reins, with his involvement in the film being confirmed back in March. While speaking to Metro US during a TV series premiere, he said: “We are working on a script at the moment, we’ll see what happens. But it’s a great idea, so hopefully it will work. I’d love to be able to tell you more … but I’m not going to”.
He would have been working on the script with fellow Trainspotting collaborator John Hodge, who has been announced to screenwrite Bond 25.
The as yet untitled movie will mark Daniel Craig’s 5th time as the British secret agent – once more than his predecessor Pierce Brosnan.
Filming will begin this December, and the movie has an expected release date of October 25th, 2019 (UK) and November 8th, 2019 (US).
