Good Omens stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen are set to appear in Staged, a new lockdown comedy coming to BBC One.
Staged features the cast of a play who are furloughed when their upcoming West End production is suddenly brought to a halt. “Absurd and humorous in equal measure, Staged takes on the challenges of creating a drama in lockdown, on stage and off, with a line-up including Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg” the BBC said about the new show.
“It’s vital that the BBC provides moments of light relief and this mischievous idea shows what great sports Michael and David are in sending themselves up.“Charlotte Moore – Director of Content at the BBC
This won’t be the first time the Tennant household has greeted audiences recently. In April, Georgia and David featured in a live Twitter watchalong, where stars and writers of Doctor Who rewatched the show and tweeted along as fans joined them.
Whilst being about life during lockdown, the series had been filmed under lockdown too, with the production “being filmed using a combination of self-shooting and video conferencing technology…” – so if they’re anything like the conference calls I’m on, expect a few jokes about forgetting you’re on mute.
Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content said: “It’s vital that the BBC provides moments of light relief and this mischievous idea shows what great sports Michael and David are in sending themselves up.”
Staged will air in June 2020 on BBC One and will be available as a box set on BBC iPlayer after transmission.
